In the first week of every month, Docunight will screen a documentary about Iranian filmmakers in over 25 cities in North America. What began in San Francisco back in 2014 as an effort to bring together a small group of friends in their shared interest of Iranian documentaries has now become an event shared with fellow “Docunighters” across cities in the U.S. and Canada. The program is run and operated by a group of culturally devoted and artistically passionate people, and most screenings take place at major universities.
In 2020, Docunight’s monthly in-person screenings were expanded with the inception of Docunight On-Screen and Docunight On-Demand with two unique experiences:
Docunight On-Screen is our monthly screening program, @Theater for in-person screening events and @Home for online viewing.
Docunight On-Demand is a subscription-based service offering an extensive collection of curated Iranian documentaries, both old and new.
Docunight is an initiative under Kiarostami Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit based in San Francisco, CA, USA.
