In the first week of every month, Docunight will screen a documentary about Iranian filmmakers in over 25 cities in North America. What began in San Francisco back in 2014 as an effort to bring together a small group of friends in their shared interest of Iranian documentaries has now become an event shared with fellow “Docunighters” across cities in the U.S. and Canada. The program is run and operated by a group of culturally devoted and artistically passionate people, and most screenings take place at major universities.
In 2020, Docunight’s monthly in-person screenings were expanded with the inception of Docunight On-Screen and Docunight On-Demand with two unique experiences:
Docunight On-Screen is our monthly screening program, @Theater for in-person screening events and @Home for online viewing.
Docunight On-Demand is a subscription-based service offering extensive collection of curated Iranian documentaries, both old and new.
gives the viewers a second chance to catch the film online if the theatre event could not be attended
While both This has enabled Docunight to reach a wider audience, offering a greater range of documentaries, as Docunight On-Demand is available to anyone and everyone around the globe while Docunight On-Screen gives the viewers a second chance to catch the film online if the theatre event could not be attended.
Docunight operates under Kiarostami Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit in San Francisco, CA.
